As ESA is preparing the themes and topics for the upcoming ministerial Space19+, we used fictional storytelling as a tool to demonstrate the reasons why action needs to be taken to defend against dangers from space.
The second edition of the PhiWeek Bootcamp has just come to an end. Hosted by the European Space Agency (ESA) and Pi School in the course of the PhiWeek (6-10 September 2019), the goal of the event was to explore the scope of Earth Observation data by non-space industries by example through an industry or company relevant challenge, set by the official challenge partner.
For ECMWF we have produced an “explanimation” video. Its aim was to briefly inform a general audience about the discovery, the origin and the historic international collaboration of the UN to deal with the Ozone hole. It was published on ECMWF’s social media together with the annual animation they publish on the annual reappearance of the Ozone hole.
For ECMWF we have produced an explainer animation video about CO2 emissions. It was created to be used by ECMWF in presentations to stakeholders, in this case policymakers, in order to explain the relevance and need for the new proposed Copernicus capability to monitor CO2 emissions.
Based on our work on the ESA cartoon series “The Adventures of Rosetta & Philae”, we are happy to announce the first full feature full-dome movie that we have produced can now be watched in planetaria around the world.
For ECMWF we have produced 3D animations illustrating the evolution of ozone in our atmosphere in 2017 and 2018. The animations have been shared across its social media channels and throughout its network.
For EUMETSAT we produced a series of documentary videos on what it’s like to work at its headquarters in Darmstadt. As it prepares a recruitment drive, the videos were used to attract young people to its Early Career Programme and give audiences an insight to its unique and friendly working environment.
The European Space Agency (ESA) has released a further update of their Interactive Guide to the Moon following work by Design & Data, including a new home screen, rework of the artwork and background music.
Following the great success of the PhiWeek Bootcamp, we are pleased to showcase the highlights of the event through a new video and a summary report. 38 participants from over 10 countries showed the high international resonance. For many participants, this cultural diversity contributed to the success of the event and to the development of innovative and groundbreaking business ideas.
