The first TEDxESA event will take place on 11 November 2015 at ESTEC, the technology and engineering centre of the European Space Agency (ESA). Design & Data will provide the livestreaming of the event to the general public.
Following the success of TEDxRheinMain Rocketminds hosted by ESOC, ESA’s Operations Centre in Darmstadt (Germany) in May 2014, the first TEDxESA will take place at ESA’s technical heart at ESTEC in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. Design & Data will livestream the event in a range of streaming qualities with multi-bitrate encoding suitable for mobiles and desktops.
TEDxESA is set to become a long-term communication platform, aiming to reach out across Europe to share “ideas worth spreading” about space in other ESA centres in the years to come.
The event will be hosted by Dutch ESA Astronaut, André Kuipers together with Franco Ongaro (Head of ESTEC). Speakers also include comedienne Helen Keen, rebellious Chef Thorsten Schmidt, neuroscientist Danko Nikolić, novelist/futurist Nick Harkaway, space visionary Rick Tumlinson, ESA’s Head of Materials Technology Tommaso Ghidini and aeronautical engineer and former ESA Young Graduate Trainee Kanika Anand.
