As ESA’s next astronaut Tim Peake prepares for his upcoming mission in December, Design & Data were invited to film for the UK Space Agency at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne.
Tim Peake will be the UK’s first ESA Astronaut and will form part of the ISS crew for Expedition 46/47. He will launch to the ISS in December 2015 for his mission ‘Principia’, which will use the unique environment of space to run a wide variety of experiments and test new technologies.
A large part of his mission will be to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers in a variety of education activities. These include ‘Rocket Science’ where children can grow some “space salad”; ‘Team Tim’, an exciting, fun space show; and ”Principia Space Diary” which allows children to make their own book as they follow Tim’s mission.
Design & Data recorded a series of greeting clips for various purposes in these projects. This included Tim inside the Columbus laboratory mock-up and in the training hall at the EAC.
We wish Tim all the very best of luck for his upcoming mission to the space station and support his efforts in inspiring the next generation.
