IAB’s “Establishment Panel” captures 30 years of data, presented in seven engaging videos that showcase its significance for science, employers, and political decisions.
Challenge
For three decades, the IAB (Institute for Employment Research), a division of the Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit), has been conducting the “Establishment Panel” (Betriebspanel), a crucial annual survey. This survey encompasses over 16,000 establishments and provides valuable insights into employment trends, turnover, investments, personnel policies, and other pertinent factors in both western and eastern Germany. Design & Data were approached by the IAB to determine how to effectively present this significant event in the media, particularly online. The challenge was to demonstrate the significance of the “Establishment Panel” and highlight its numerous advantages for science, employers, as well as political decision-making processes.
Idea, solution
Design & Data presented a diverse range of video content for the event, encompassing a concise “impressions” video to showcase the entire event, topic-specific videos to delve into subjects in-depth, and full one-hour recordings of multiple talks for online viewing. To ensure comprehensive coverage, we assembled teams of up to five professionals, utilizing three cameras simultaneously.
Our production efforts centered on the creation of four “thematic videos” that highlight the IAB “Establishment Panel” pivotal role in supporting political decisions and guiding businesses over the span of three decades. This process included the filming of talks, but our primary focus was on conducting interviews with over 20 experts representing diverse fields.
To maintain viewer engagement and avoid monotony, we skillfully integrated concise statements from 3-4 individuals for each topic with dynamic motion graphics, resulting in informative and captivating videos.
Result
Our efforts resulted in comprehensive coverage, with a total of seven engaging videos. These videos include two documentaries of the opening keynote, a substantial video highlighting a pivotal panel discussion, an overall impression video, and four thematic videos, each exploring specific topics of significance. Together, these videos offer a multifaceted and insightful perspective on the event, making its valuable content accessible and engaging to a wide audience.
